Saturated!

Totally Papercrafts Challenge #114 Saturated Colors

Happy Friday Bloggers!  Another work week ends kicking off another creative weekend.  Lets start with our Friday Challenge at Totally Papercrafts.  Hosting this week is the lovely Caroline of K.I.S.S.  Visit her blog and give her some love in the comment sections.  Caroline wants us to use saturated colors.  I couldn't wait to dig into my Copics and paper stash for some brightness.  During this challenge I realized it was, well,  challenging.  I naturally gravitate toward subdued colors so I had a ton of fun with this card.  It features the digital stamp "Zombie Niamh" and comes from this weeks sponsor: the amazing Krista Smith of Saturated Canary Digis.  Krista is an artist with incredible talent and is giving 2 of her gorgeous digis to the winner of this weeks challenge.  Search out your bright papers, markers and embellishments, visit the Saturated Canary then join in the challenge this week.  Happy Crafting <3

Snatch the Digi

Happy Tuesday Blogging friends.  This week is creeping by and Friday will be here before you know it.  I hope everyone is having a great work week.  My oldest son Ethan, had a talk with me in the car after school today.  Ethan is an amazing artist and started drawing pictures before he could write words .  He starts college in the fall and plans on majoring in Graphic Design.  Ethan politely told me to get busy and add more digis to the shop and to offer more free digis.  He told me to build a "fan" base and work on making my site more interesting.  When did my child get so smart?  Thanks to Ethan, you can look for more freebies and I'll be pushing my pencil extra hard for you.  Enjoy Funky Letter A!

Now that's Inspiration!

Sassy Cheryl's Challenge #111 Butterflies

Hello happy bloggers!  I recently realized I am running the Diva 5K race in less than a month and I have not prepared.  In fact, I haven't run at all in over a month.  Instead, I've indulged in high calorie snacks and eating extra sugar....UGH!  I'm SO going to pay for this :(  Since I've been bad I decided to make a card to remind me what can happen when I eat extra snacks.  This card features two Sassy Cheryl Images.  Cheryl has new super cute stamps in her shop.  Make sure you stop by and check them out.  I hope everyone has a great work week, as for me, I'll be outside running my tail off to make up for lost time ;)  Happy Crafting <3

All Buttoned Up!

Totally Papercrafts Challenge #113

Friday has arrived and it's time for another Totally Papercrafts Challenge.  Our host this week is the lovely Anne of Craftyanny's.  Anne makes the most fantastic creations.  Stop over to her blog and give her some love.  This week Anne wants us to use buttons.   Along with making a creation for my TPDT, I had to present a project at my Inky Digits club.   I wanted something different that would cover both bases, be useful and versatile.  While shopping for um....er....groceries, yeah, groceries and important household items ;)  I saw 3/5 covered notepads in the store that had a hefty price.  They were neat but boring very manufactured.  I took one off the shelf and thought "I can make that."  I went home and put my ideas and inspiration to work.  This project has MANY variations and I hope it inspires all of you to make your own version be it a photo album or a catch all for your recipe cards, a journal or a sketch pad.  Our sponsor for this weeks prize is The Ribbon Girl.  Grab some buttons,  join our challenge this week and Happy Crafting! <3
I Covered the FRONT ONLY of the front chipboard cover.
I measured and punched holes on the front cover to fit my button.
I used hemp twine to tie my button on the front cover.  I then frayed the twine at the top for effect.
I then finished inside of the front cover with matching designer paper
I covered the FRONT ONLY of the back chipboard cover.
At the center and 1/2 inch from the bottom, I punched a small hole just big enough to fit my twine through.
I used approximately 12 inches of twine.  I threaded 4 inches through the hole of the back cover adhering it to the inside of the back cover.
I finished the inside of my back cover with designer paper
I puched holes in the upper corner of my covers.
I used those as templates to line up and puch holes in my index cards.
I used a 1 inch bookring decorated with ribbon to hold my notepad together.
Enjoy!

Papers: DCWV La Creme Matstack, Chipboard from Kinkos
Stamps:  Compass Rose from Rubber Soul and Skull and Crossbones from Stampabilities
Embellishments:  Button from Marie Hecker (DMIL) Hemp Twine for wrap around closure, Ribbon

Kharma the Chameleon

Happy Saturday Bloggie friends!  There's new addition to the studio.  Last week our television was tuned to Animal Planet and while sketching I heard Steve Irwin's Aussie accent excitedly WHOOOHOOOing the beautiful chameleons on a visit to Madagascar.  My children are two of many who grew up watching Steve and his wonderful adventures on T.V.  On this day Steve reminded me that Chameleons are one of my favorite reptiles sending my pencil off on a path of it's own.  Kharma was the result.   If you're like me, take some time to watch a couple of Crocodile Adventure episodes and remind yourself to stop and enjoy natures jewels.  Happy Weekend and Happy Crafting!
